New York

A space referencing nature and industry allure

When designing this modern and charismatic New York kitchen, a true understanding of the client’s style and needs was the essential goal for Nicole Freezer Rubens, Principal at boutique design firm NFR Consulting.

“I’ve had a great working relationship with these clients. Together we created a chic and sexy kitchen that feels “of the moment” both in design and in the clients’ post family apartment needs.”

The solution Nicole chose for her clients is a Boffi Xila kitchen model. The sapient use of finishes and the combination of materials make the space stand out and provide an element of complexity and sophistication to the project. The metal finish in a dark intense lead color has been chosen for the base units and tall units, combined with a magnesium color for the upper units. The use of a dramatic countertop and backsplash in Black Cosmic granite enhances the elegance and strong personality of this kitchen, creating an intriguing ambience.

“This space references nature with its Black Cosmic stone, industry with its dual metal cabinetry and is a great backdrop for fine art and furniture. It was built for intimate breakfasts and dinners for two as well as gracious entertaining. Standing in the inviting bar room feels like being in a cocoon. We often called it the chocolate kitchen and who doesn’t love chocolate?”

Nicole has been in the design business for over 20 years, starting her own design firm after a long career in the art world. Her attention to details, giving each project individualized care and distinction, reflects into eclectic, interesting interiors to be enjoyed for years to come.

“This was my first collaboration with Boffi” Nicole says. “I would surely encourage future clients to refer to them”.
